Should I Buy a New Trailer or a Used Trailer?

Although used trailers can be a good deal at times, you want to make sure that the trailer that you are purchasing is one that will be a dependable and safe unit. New trailers offer a full warranty for up to five years on select models. This coverage coupled with the expert knowledge of the Right Trailers staff will give you the peace of mind you deserve when purchasing a new trailer.

Do I Need to Do Any Routine Maintenance to My Trailer?

Yes, you do. Trailers are not as complex as an automobile, but there are some critical moving components that must be maintained on a regular basis. The wheel bearings should be lubricated with a high speed wheel bearing grease every 1500 - 3000 miles. The tire pressure should be checked weekly if the trailer is used often. Check the side wall of the trailer tire for the proper inflation pressure. Trailers also need to be washed if you want to retain the resale value. Although most trailer owners do not wax their trailers, it does not hurt. Trailers are not protected with a clear coat on the paint like automobiles are, so the paint on a trailer is more susceptible to the harmful and dulling effects of the sun and Mother Nature.

What Are the Differences Between an Entry Level Trailer and a Premium Trailer?

The differences are definitely more than just price and price. The overall quality of the trailer, the material used to construct the trailer, how the trailer is trimmed, tire selection on the trailer, and the types of axle are some of the differences. Come in or give us a call and one of our knowledgeable staff members can help you choose which trailer is best suited for your needs.

How Much Does a Trailer Weigh?

The answer to this question is dependent upon what size trailer you are looking to purchase. Most open utility type trailers weigh between 500lbs and 1,500lbs, while enclosed trailers weigh between 1,000lbs and 12,000lbs. Give us a call and one of our friendly sales staff can provide you with a more accurate trailer weight for your particular application.

What Needs to Be Done to My Trailer After I Purchase It?

If you have purchased or are going to purchase your trailer from Right Trailers, you only need to check the tightness of the lug nuts and the air pressure in the tires after the first 50 miles. At Right Trailers, every trailer receives a thorough walk-thru by one or more of our certified service technicians. During this walk-thru, the service technician fills the wheel bearings with the proper amount of high speed wheel bearing grease; inflates the tires to the proper pressure determined by the tire manufacturer; checks all running lights, turn signals, and stop lights; washes the exterior of the trailer with a high quality "wash-n-wax" soap; and checks the lug nuts to ensure that they have been tightened to the correct torque specification set by the manufacturer. If you did not purchase your trailer through Right Trailers, check with the dealer that you purchased the trailer from, as the level of dealer preparation varies.
